Our community has been measuring kindergarten readiness for nearly a decade. In that time period, there has been almost no change to the percent of students who enter school ready. However, there have been significant upticks over the same time period for indicators that we know are directly associated with readiness, including preschool attendance. We must celebrate the improvements to other indicators while also asking ourselves: Why are our students still not ready for kindergarten?
