WHAT IS
OUR
WHY?

In 2018, the Foundation evaluated through research the major needs of the Muncie Delaware County community. Many challenges rose to the top, including issues related to health, income, education, family structure, mobility, etc. Most of these adversities are linked back to the root cause: generational poverty.

WHAT IS
OUR BIG
GOAL?

As of 2020, 65% of all jobs in the United States required a postsecondary education or credential. Jobs, living wage and above, connect individuals and families to increased economic mobility and prosperity. Today, Muncie's collective level of adult attainment is half this number. Challenges experienced across the community are, in many ways, symptoms of this benchmark not being met.

WILL WE MAKE THIS CHANGE?

A Cradle to Career approach is a long-term solution to long-term, complex challenges. In real-time, these concepts shown on the right take shape in the structure visualized below. MCS community co-developed documents guide the work that is backboned or convened by the Foundation. Non-profit leaders facilitate collective work in each topic-based Collaborative Action Network (CAN) shown below, mobilizing and building upon existing community strengths.

WHO carries out this work?

No single organization, school, nonprofit, or individual can accomplish these goals alone. This is why a collective impact approach is so important. Everyone has an important role to play in the economic mobility of our neighbors.
